INTRODUCTION

An avid HGTV watching, Pinterest pinning, and Do-It-Yourself loving candidate, I am passionate about finding value in the simple, and at times, quiet things in life. And while the correlation to work life may seem farfetched, these interests speak to my core values – Identifying potential and nurturing it to greatness. This value informs my passion for interpersonal communication and engagement and leadership development; it fuels my ability to capture the “big picture” when given only a few pixels.

I enjoy being able to identify opportunities for growth and development in the most modest circumstances as well as plan marketing initiatives that engage diverse audiences. For the past ten years, I have developed, implemented, and expanded community outreach programs in the higher education and nonprofit sectors with quantifiable results. Performance management is key and is reflected in my strong program management skills to ensure all activities are operating on time and budget; I believe I have a “growing hand” when it comes to development, and enjoy working with teams for programmatic advancement.

    SAGE Program Coordinator

    Duke University Academic Resource Center

    The Duke University Academic Resource Center (ARC) provides variety of programs and services to support the academic work of all undergraduates at Duke University. I serve as one of Program Coordinators at the ARC and coordinate the SAGE (Science Advancement through Group Engagement) program.

    As the SAGE Program Coordinator, my primary responsibilities include outreach strategy development, marketing design and administrative and logistic management for the SAGE Program. I also serve as support for the Peer Tutoring Program and assist with coordinating payroll, hiring and on-boarding for student employees.

    JKCF Outreach Coordinator

    Duke University Talent Identification Program

    In this role, I designed strategies and led outreach and marketing efforts for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program and College Scholarship Program at the Duke University Talent Identification Program.

    As the primary point of contact for both programs at Duke TIP, I maintained relationships with administrators, teachers, parents, and outreach specialists nationwide. In addition, I conducted regular in-person information sessions and led webinars to keep diverse audiences abreast of each program’s initiatives.I managed deliverables across a 16-state region, including budgeting, financial reporting, performance management, and client relations.

    The program achieved record growth. Within five years, the number of eligible applicants increased by 400 percent through consistent contact with schools, tighter pre-qualifying criteria, and regular communications to families.

My skill strengths are in program development, community outreach, building internal and external coalitions, and developing strategies and processes that streamline workflow and promote efficiency, productivity, and growth.  I recently, collaborated with a team member to simplify the payroll approval process for over 100 student employees increasing the efficiency by 50 percent. In my previous role as a Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Outreach Specialist, I increased the scholarship program application pool by over 400 percent within five years by incorporating different communication and outreach strategies coupled with ‘tried and true’ methods.
